Spiritual Awakening – When Your Consciousness Begins to Change

29. September 2026

Sometimes a spiritual awakening begins very suddenly — through loss, a crisis, or a realization after which nothing feels quite the same. Sometimes it happens quietly, almost unnoticed, over months or even years.

At some point, you may sense that your previous understanding of life is no longer enough. You begin asking questions that once held little meaning for you. Your perception changes, your intuition becomes stronger, and encounters, dreams, or apparent coincidences suddenly seem to carry a different depth.

Spiritual awakening means that your consciousness begins to open beyond the limits of the purely visible world. Little by little, you realize that what you perceive through your physical senses is only one part of reality.

What Does Spiritual Awakening Mean?

Spiritual awakening describes a profound shift in consciousness. It is not about suddenly becoming a different person. Quite the opposite: often, awakening begins when you start to recognize more clearly what truly belongs to you — and what you have absorbed, learned, or believed about yourself over the years.

You begin to observe your thoughts more consciously, question old beliefs, and take your intuition more seriously. Perhaps you become more sensitive to people and energies, search for a deeper meaning behind certain experiences, or begin to engage more intensely with your soul and your spiritual perception.

At some point, a realization arises: I am more than my thoughts, my roles, and my personal story. You begin to understand that you do not simply live in this world — you are also part of something much greater.

How Do You Recognize a Spiritual Awakening?

Spiritual awakening does not look the same for everyone. There is no checklist you need to complete step by step. And yet, in my work over many years, I have seen certain experiences appear again and again.

You may feel a growing need for silence or withdrawal. Relationships begin to change. Things that once felt normal may suddenly seem empty or no longer right for you. At the same time, your sensitive or mediumistic perception may become stronger.

You notice moods more intensely. Your intuition becomes clearer. You may experience unusually vivid dreams, strong inner images, or a sense of knowing something without being able to explain where that knowledge comes from.

Not every perception is automatically mediumistic. This is why it is important to learn the difference between what comes from your own thoughts and what is genuinely spiritual perception.

True mediumship requires perception — but just as importantly, discernment.

Spiritual Awakening and Multidimensional Reality

As your spiritual development deepens, your understanding of reality also changes. Our reality does not consist only of what we can touch, measure, or see with our physical eyes. We live within a multidimensional reality in which consciousness, soul, and spiritual levels are connected.

These levels do not always reveal themselves in spectacular ways. Sometimes we experience them through the quiet certainty of intuition, in dreams, in deep meditation, in soul encounters, in communication with the deceased, or in a thought that appears with a clarity that is distinctly different from ordinary thinking.

Over time, you learn to distinguish what arises from your own mind and what comes to you from a spiritual level.

What Happens to Your Perception During a Spiritual Awakening?

Many people believe that spiritual awakening must feel peaceful, uplifting, and full of light all the time. That is not my experience. Awakening can be beautiful — but it can also be uncomfortable.

As your consciousness expands, you do not only perceive more of the spiritual world. You also begin to see more of yourself. Old behavioural patterns become visible, relationships shift, and decisions you may have avoided for a long time become harder to ignore.

You see more clearly where you abandon yourself, where you adapt too much, and where you already know that something is no longer right. This is why spirituality, for me, always includes one essential element: responsibility.

Spiritual Awakening Also Means Taking Responsibility

Awareness alone does not change a life. What matters is what you do with what you have recognized. You can read a hundred spiritual books, meditate, work with cards, and speak about energy — and still continue living the same unconscious patterns again and again.

Spirituality is not only reflected in what you perceive. It shows itself above all in how you live. In whether you are willing to look honestly, take responsibility for your decisions, and stop explaining every difficult experience solely through what is happening outside of you.

At some point, you may begin asking different questions: What does this have to do with me? What can I recognize through this? And what do I want to change? This does not mean that we can control everything. But we can decide whether we move through life consciously or unconsciously.

The Role of the Soul and Intuition

During a spiritual awakening, your connection to your own intuition often changes as well. That quiet inner knowing you may once have ignored begins to take up more space. But intuition is not the same as fear, wishful thinking, or imagination.

Especially in mediumistic development, it is important to learn how to distinguish between different inner impulses. What comes from my thoughts? What is emotional? What is intuitive perception? And when is there an actual connection to the spiritual world?

This discernment is one of the most important foundations of mediumistic development. Sensitivity alone does not make someone a medium. Perception needs to be understood, trained, and stabilized.

Is Spiritual Awakening a One-Time Event?

No. At least, that is not how I experience it.

Spiritual awakening is rarely one single magical moment after which every question has been answered. It happens in stages. Sometimes you believe you have understood something completely — and several years later, you realize that the same insight carried a much greater depth than you were able to grasp at the time.

Consciousness does not stand still. And neither do we. That is why I do not see spiritual awakening as a destination, but as an ongoing process of becoming conscious.

Can Spiritual Awakening Open Mediumistic Abilities?

Yes. Spiritual awakening can significantly open and strengthen mediumistic abilities. That does not mean that every person will automatically want to work as a medium. But for many people, sensitive and mediumistic perception becomes stronger as their development deepens.

Some begin to sense energies. Others perceive people who have died. Others experience inner images, words, feelings, or a strong sense of intuitive knowing. The important question is therefore not only: What am I perceiving? It is also: Can I distinguish what I am actually perceiving?

That is the difference between simply being open and having developed mediumistic ability. Sensing, seeing, or knowing something inwardly is one thing. Understanding where that perception comes from, how reliable it is, and how to work with it is something else.

And that can be learned.

Spiritual Awakening Is Not an Escape from This World

Spirituality does not mean withdrawing from human life. Quite the opposite. The more conscious you become, the more important it becomes to truly be present in your life — in your body, in your relationships, in your decisions, and in what you do every day.

The spiritual world does not lead us away from life. It expands our understanding of it. Spiritual awakening is therefore
